TOPIC: Empty lists

Empty lists 7 Months ago
Hi!

I have created a list that I show in the jcollection list module (like your "Recently read").
Is it possible to empty this list or to delete single items - what would be better - so that only the newest items are shown?
So far I have deleted the list and created a new empty one that I had to fill again. But perhaps there is a better way to do it.

Have a nice one!

Hi,
there is a very easy way: you can limit the number of items in a list (the "recently read" list here is limited to 5 items). Whenever you add a new item to the list, the oldest entry drops out. This setting is in the list parameters. Independently, you can change the ordering type and the number of displayed entries in the list module parameters.
HTH,
Thorsten.

Hi.
In a way that works. But (because I have a "Recently watched" list) I cannot add an item a second time because it is still in the list but cannot be seen as long as a limited number of items is visible. So it drops out of the visible list but not out of the list itself.
Any ideas?
Best

Re: Empty lists 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi,
in that case, either reorder the list, or (using the listcat plugin) remove the item from the list and re-add it. In the frontend, I changed the item adding code such that whenever an item is added to the list and it already is on the list, then it is deleted before re-added, thus it should be ordered correctly. This will be in the next version (coming soon!).
Best,
Thorsten.

I have never used the frontend to add or delete items of lists. But now that I know (and already tried it) I will do it (it's a little easier than in the backend)!
